Nuva ring! (I need I gynecologist) ?

I had nuva ring in and then instead of taking it out and having a period, I inserted a new one. Then I started spotting so I decided to take it out a week before I was supposed to, and had unprotected sex a day after. Since I had so many birth control hormones in me, I was still protected right?
