How do you overcome too much instability on your resume?

I do get calls for interviews but the recruiters always mention too much instability. Ever since I was 18, I had to move around jobs to support my self and ever changing environments of social and family life had me moving through about 6 jobs... I really need to show that I am not unstable and that I made the best decisions on choices that were available to me. Any ideas?? I may perhaps have to redo the whole resume in a different way to show stability of some sort....
